WARMINSTER, Pa. (CBS) ? Students at one Bucks County high school are learning first-hand what it?s like to operate a bank. There?s a branch in the hallways of their school.
TruMark Financial has partnered with the Centennial School District to put a student-operated credit union branch at William Tennent High School in Warminster. Students must go through an application, interview and training process before they?re offered a job at the branch.
The branch provides teens with financial services and educates them about financial responsibility. Pennsylvania Secretary of Banking Glenn Moyer says adults want to be comfortable with the financial decisions they make, ?so I say what better time to boost that very practical hands-on financial education than when you?re young.?
Moyer would like to see more financial institutions get involved.
?This gives students a very practical exposure to financial education but it also exposes them to the job market.?
Students learn how to balance a cash drawer, the importance of security and how to offer good customer service. TruMark opened a student-run branch at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in Montgomery County five years ago.
