Fairwood Golf & Country Club selects industry veteran as new GM

Thomas Frets has been named general manager for Renton's Fairwood Golf & Country Club, announced Board of Trustees President Clarence Cal. Frets will assume his new role on Sept. 17.

"Tom will be a great leader for our club," Cal said. "He is an accomplished general manager with over 25 years of experience creating club environments that provide outstanding experiences for members and their guests."

A resident of Maple Valley, Frets has spent the past two years as president of GM Resources in Bellevue. In that capacity he provided management consultant services to private clubs.

Prior to that he had 12-year tenure as general manager/chief operations officer of Glendale Country Club in Bellevue. While there Frets increased membership and oversaw a number of capital improvement projects. In 2006 Frets was selected as Club Manager of the Year by the Western Washington Golf Club Superintendents Association.

"I'm very excited to work with the members and professional staff at Fairwood Golf and Country Club to build on what is already a great family-friendly and fun place in the community," Frets said. "Fairwood has the total club package of fitness, pool, great food, social events and challenging golf that members are looking for."
