Anniversaries: Ashmont Grill, The Hawthorne and Sweet Cheeks Q ...

Anniversaries are a great excuse to party. So, why not give three cheers for these three hot spots for hitting their marks and celebrating with parties, special menus and more.

Ashmont Grill: With seven years under his belt, owner/executive chef Chris Douglass has decided it's time to appoint a new chef de cuisine, Lola Sotomayor-Ellis, to head the kitchen at his Dorchester American. In turn, Sotomayor-Ellis has introduced Hot Mess Tuesdays, a roster of specials that challenge your heat-o-meter. Dishes will include jalape?o poppers, beef tongue tacos, spicy Thai-style oxtail soup and grilled shrimp with mango-jalape?o sorbet. You can even order ?extra heat? by asking for red jalape?os (hot), green jalape?os (hotter) and habenero (hottest). Sotomayor is a native of Puerto Rico and has cooked at Tico and Via Matta?and more?(617-825-4300).

The Hawthorne: This cocktail empire in Kenmore Square celebrates its first anniversary with a Thanksgiving theme party November 21. The cocktail reception and fund-raiser features some of Jackson Cannon?s greatest drink hits and a menu that nods to purveyors and people for which Hawthorne is grateful. Those included are Formaggio Kitchen cheese monger, along with local rum from Bully Boy, and Hawthorne?s famous cocktail macaroons. A portion of the evening?s proceeds will go to Lovin? Spoonfuls, a nonprofit that rescues perishable food and distributes it to the hungry (6-9 PM; $50 per person; click here for tickets;?617-532-9150).

Sweet Cheeks Q: It?s hard to believe it?s been a year since Top Chef fame Tiffani Faison opened her Q-hot spot in the Fenway. To celebrate, Faison is doing it up with a southern-style buffet menu that includes her hot-licks of Texas BBQ - a whole roasted pig, fun finger foods like fried okra with pimento cheese, potato boats with pulled pork and a Southern-style crab boil on Sunday, November 11. Get ready to have fun at ring toss and cornhole, and with a cash bar of signature drinks like a Damn Yankee (Weller bourgon, sapling maple liqueur, maple bitters and house-brandied cheery). If you stay long enough, you might instigate a beer game (6:30 party begins; 7:30 dinner; $50 per person; click here for tickets; 617-266-1300).
