The Evolution of the SEO Training Alliance

Hi there,

Firstly, thanks a lot for being on our list, opening our emails and taking the time to read this post!

If you have been with us for a long time, a very special thanks :)

It always amazes me to see how loyal so many of our customers are, having been on our list since our first SEO offerings many years ago!

I?m writing this post to let you know about some of the things that are going to change about the way we operate.

Before I do, I think it?s important to start with letting you know WHY it is we do what we do.

Bear with me while I get all deep, yo.

It may comes as a surprise to many reading this, or maybe not, but Jake and I do not love SEO.

?*gasps*

No, it?s true. SEO is not our passion? it?s an interest, and something we see a lot of value in for businesses. But SEO is not what drives us. It?s not the end goal.

I?ll get back to that shocking statement in just a sec, but we need to zoom out a bit to put it all in context.

Jake and I got into online business at a pretty young age, around 20 actually.

We were desperate to avoid a boring life of office jobs and wage slavery?ok, that?s a bit dramatic but we were fortunate to be born at a time where there is so much opportunity for those willing to step up and take it.?We were both basically broke and also at college and working part time jobs, but we?re so fortunate that in the 21st century business does NOT need to be the expensive, hard to start, time suck that it once had been.

Shit got real when Jake stumbled upon the 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss at a book shop. (ahh books shops, the glory of the pre-kindle pre-ipad days!)

No joke though, he just saw the title and appealed to the lazy way of life us Australians cherish so much.

And so we were sold on a way of life that to us,?just made sense.

For those that haven?t read the 4 hour work week I highly recommend you do, but the basic premises are:

Life is short.

Time is precious.

Who wants to grow old and full of regrets for things they never got to do?

If you can build a business that generates a good income, without selling time, and you can do it in a way that doesn?t involve you needing to be in one fixed location then you can have some amazing life experiences.

Like traveling the world for example, it really does have a lot to offer!

In some countries you really can live like a king or queen with what you?d scrape by on at home! Not to mention discover nature and animals and history and meet people and all sorts of other fun and interesting things.

(I recently went swimming with whale sharks in mexico, it was AWESOME. I took this photo.?Really unforgettable experience.)

I really do credit that book with introducing me to this way of thinking, and the reality of the ?new rich.?

And so we ventured into the world of internet marketing with no cash, no experience and no formal business training, really to build a business with one sole purpose:

To support a lifestyle that freed up our time and gave us the financial means to in a nutshell, have a lot of fun.

For me fun means being able to spend days with my friends having a chat, hanging out, enjoying a good lunch! It means being able to take a full day off many times a week to spend with my lovely girlfriend.?To buy the things I want for myself, and be generous in my gifts to others.

It means being able to travel on a whim, for months on end without having to worry about onerous business tasks.

It means ENJOYING what I do, and liking who I do it for.

It?s not about showing off or accumulating stuff that marketers convince us we need, for me it really is about freedom, and having a rich life full of experiences that I will have fond memories of.

I value my freedom so much in fact, that I basically turned down a $45,000 SEO gig because it was delaying my trip to Argentina :)

And I don?t regret it one bit.

And really, lifestyle freedom is what is driving me personally to do what I do.

Of course I do have more loftier goals and need to find meaning in what I do as well, which I do.

I feel passionately about?entrepreneurship, and I genuinely believe that free markets and small businesses and enterprising individuals make this world a much better place. In the often sleazy world of IM?I gravitated towards SEO because helping businesses get more customers, and helping customers find businesses that they were actively searching for makes a lot of good sense!

So even though for a while now we?ve identified externally as an SEO company, internally we have identified as something broader than that.

A company that empowers entrepreneurs to build businesses that liberate them and facilitate a lifestyle of ultimate freedom!

So how does this all relate to SEO and the business and of course, you?!

Well SEO has gotten to a point where teaching it in a Vaccum and ignoring other elements of IM is not the best thing for our customers.

Remedying this has been a consistent trend in all our recent training, especially SEO Evolution?but even as early as the start of the year in our authority site training which sought to establish strong IM business foundations.

Moving forward, great SEO knowledge without great marketing knowledge is not going to cut it, at all.

We see a lot of people that can get ranked and get traffic, but struggle to convert that into money which is great news because we can help :)

There?s a lot of stuff out there that we need to be on top of as internet marketers, and it all ties together.

List Building, Copywriting, Content Marketing, Product Creation and Traffic Generation of all forms and more.

These are things I actively engage with on a daily basis and though I?m still and will always be a student of marketing, I?ve also got a lot of experience under the belt to share some very cool stuff with you, and help you achieve your own lifestyle business goals.

So from now onwards, expect to see a broader range of internet marketing training offered on our new site:

IMCortex.com

I?m VERY excited to share this with you because for many, this information will be life changing :)

Of course you?re under no obligation to pay me any attention, but even if you consider yourself an SEO person, I?d strongly encourage you to open your mind to IM broadly?as there is some stuff that you just might find you thoroughly enjoy and benefit from!

I know do.

Thanks a lot and looking forward to beginning a new journey with old friends :)
